Big Pork lobbyists snuck a scam in the farm bill that would wipe out family farmers and strip our right to pass our own laws.
Minnesota holds the keys to stop it.
Take Action →The Save Our Bacon Act (SOB Act) is a special-interest provision hidden in the 2026 farm bill. It's a version of the widely discredited EATS Act and King Amendment. Here's what it would do.
Forbid states from writing their own food safety and animal welfare laws, even when voters and legislators want them.
Overturn more than a dozen Minnesota health laws — handing over power to Washington, DC, and Big Pork companies like China-owned Smithfield to dump toxins in the food supply.
Destroy markets for responsible family farmers who played by the rules and invested in humane practices, replacing them with factory farm cruelty.
Rewrite the rules for big corporations like China-owned Smithfield, the largest pork processor in the US. In 2024, Smithfield was fined $2 million for illegally hiring minor children at its plant in St. James, Minnesota.
Harvard Law School identified 12 Minnesota laws that would be overturned by the Save Our Bacon scam, allowing corporations to dump toxins in our food supply and let animal diseases run rampant.
